31/10/2024 Publication of the Lab Handbook
Following the SAFE Lab workshop in May, the attendees have created guidelines for lab handbooks. These are still under review and will be updated (contribute here!). However, based on these, we publish today the first version of the Reinhard Lab Handbook. This handbook details expectations and commitments by Katja, the PI of the lab. It is the basis for safe, fair, equitable, and informed interactions within the lab. A shorter version is publicly available here, a more detailed version is shared within the lab.
16/10/2024 Congratulations to Camilla and Po-Yu on their successful progress reports!
Every October, all PhD students present an update on their research during a public talk. Po-Yu and Camilla did an excellent job at presenting their research from their first year in the lab - and we celebrated with Korean dinner.
10/2024 External mentorship programme for our PhDs
PhD candidates in the lab pointed out the lack of external mentorship during a SISSA PhD - so we started our own programme. We're grateful to Dr. Annette Allen and Dr. Sabine Krabbe who agreed to be our first external mentors providing scientific and other inputs!
Mentorship

22-24/09/2023 SISSA Neuroscience at Trieste Next
Our booth at this outreach event introduced the general public to the genetic code, shapes and functions of neurons, and used the rubber hand experiment to raise the question of how do you know where your body ends. The SISSA communications teams and many volunteer students and postdocs made this a very successful event despite rain and wind!
